UGANDA TRAVEL - 18 DAYS UGANDA TRAVEL - GORILLA ADVENTURE SAFARI

Day 1: Arrival

You will be met by our company representative who will transfer you to your Hotel in Kampala. If you arrive in the morning, you will be taken around Kampala for a city tour.
You will visit the National Theatre to look at creative local arts and crafts provided by the different cultures of Uganda. You will drive to Bahai Temple passing via Makerere University, the oldest institution of higher learning in Uganda; you will then visit the Kasubi Tombs, the burial grounds for the Kabakas of Buganda Kingdom. Proceed to Kabaka’s Lake for a close look at the largest man made excavated lake in Africa. Return to your Hotel for dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge.

Day 2: Kampala- Murchison Falls uganda Travel

Begin the panoramic drive North West via Luwero triangle and Masindi Town to Murchison Falls National Park arriving in time for a picnic lunch at the spectacularly situated site at the top of the falls. From here you will continue on, taking a ferry across the river to Paraa Safari Lodge. Game viewing on the way makes your journey exciting as you look out for hippos, elephant, buffaloes and many other animals. Enjoy the superb comfort and service of Paraa Safari Lodge/ Sambiya River lodge/ Red Chilli Camp.

Day 3: Chimp safari adventure / Launch Cruise on the Victoria Nile

After breakfast, you will go for a morning Chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi Forest. This is an undisturbed area of natural forest within Budongo Forest Reserve where you can walk beneath mature mahogany and iron wood trees. Chimpanzee tracking is the most famous activity. You will definitely see many forest birds, including the chocolates-backed Kingfisher, the white-thigh hornbill, the chocolates-backed Kingfisher and puvel's illadopsis found nowhere else in East Africa. Have Lunch and transfer to the Nile River banks for an afternoon launch cruise. Overnight at a Luxurious Paraa safari Lodge or Nile Safari Camps, Sambiya River lodge, Red Chillis Camp 

Day 4: Game drive/ uganda Travel to Kibale
 
After a cup of coffee, you will be transferred to the northern part of Murchison falls National Park for a game drive. You will encounter Rothschild giraffe, oribis, waterbucks, elephant, lions, Jackson hartebeest and a variety of savannah woodland birds. This scenic drive takes 8-9 hours. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/ Primates Lodge/ Rwenzori View Guest House/ Kanyankyu Ecological Bandas.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking adventure

We will wake up early and depart to Kanyankyu tourists centre for briefing from the Ranger guides before heading to the forest for Chimp tracking. Kibale boasts the greatest primate variety and density in East Africa. Get a chance to see other species like the Grey-Throated Flycatcher, Masked & Black-Capped Apalis', Chestnut-Winged Starling, Orange -Tufted & Tiny Sunbirds, a good infrastructure and variety of interesting activities which makes this a worthwhile destination returning in time for a heartily breakfast. The chimpanzee is the star attraction in this park and these great apes are tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play. You will then walk along the different tracks in the forest in groups in search of these great apes. During the walk you may stop to listen to the calls of the chimps to avoid bypassing them. The walk will be guided, providing information about chimps, other primates, fauna and flora making it informative and interesting.  After the tracking the chimps, you will have lunch and then go for a nature walk to Bigodi wetland sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 7:Travel from Kibale – Queen Elizabeth National Park

Depart to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is truly the most magnificent scenery in the park.  Queen Elizabeth hosts a large variety and volume of wildlife. It boasts one of the highest biodiversity ranging from the open Savannah to Rain forest, dense swamps and beautiful crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward. After lunch, enjoy the unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of Hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water's edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing, ideal for the Uganda safari. The prolific bird life is colourful and stupendous with well over 550 resident species. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana safari Lodge/

Day 8: Chimp Tracking adventure in Kyambura Gorge

Early morning make your entry into Kyambura Gorge for a thrilling Chimpanzee safari. The rain forest is spectacular and offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense with numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Your guided walk in search of the chimps and other primates, may last several hours.

After lunch, you will go for a nature walk in Maramagambo Forest   for a nature walk and visit the bat Expect encounters like the great Blue Lake Kimeranjojo. Guides will tell you the myths attached to its name then proceed to the Bats cave a home to the Python that preys on bats. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana safari Lodge/ Budget Institute of Ecology.

Day 9: Game drive/ Travel to Bwindi

Take a cup of coffee to go for an early morning game drive in this park which provides excellent opportunities to see Lions, Cape Buffaloes, Giant Forest Hogs, Leopards, Elephants, Defassa Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Topi and Bush bucks and many more. After the wildlife drive, you will leave for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. We will drive through the Ishasha Sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth. Here we will take lunch by the Ishasha River and try to find the famed Ishasha tree-climbing lions before continuing on to Bwindi, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Dinner and Overnight at Gorilla Resort Camp/ L. Kitandara Luxury Camp/ Buhoma Community Bandas (Full Board)

Day 11: Gorilla adventure safari

After an early breakfast, report to the ranger station for registration and briefing by one of the ranger guides. Enter the gorilla sanctuary for tracking, pushing your way through the undergrowth and parting thick creepers. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movement of these great giants. If you have the afternoon free, you may decide to take a guided walk on the Munyanga River trail, which is an ideal short walk or take a guided  village walk to see how Ugandan live. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort/Buhoma community Bandas.

Day 12: Uganda Travel to Rwanda

After breakfast leave for Rwanda. Time permitting tour the city of Rwanda Kigali Tour, the genocide memorial sites or lively markets in Kigali’s suburbs, handicraft shops, a pottery project, the Franco-Rwandan cultural centre and the genocide memorial. Dinner and over night at Gorilla Nest Lodge/Kinigi Guest house / Muhavura lodge.

Day 13: Gorilla adventure safari in rwanda

Early morning departure for the mountain gorilla tracking. After the briefing from the authorities of the park, set off for the trekking into the rain tropical forest covering the hills surrounding Virunga Volcanoes. Make sure you carry with you packed lunch and water. Depending on the time you will spend while trekking you may decide to take another activity at you own cost.  Transfer to your lodge for dinner and over night Gorilla Nest Hotel or transfer to Uganda to have an overnight stay at Acadia Cottages in Kabale.

Day 14: Travel from Bwindi – Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, leave for Lake Bunyonyi. This famous beauty spot over the ridge to the west of Kabale is a place for travellers to chill out on a long trip through Uganda.
Lake Bunyonyi is a large and irregular shaped lake and lies at an altitude of approximately 2000m, where it follows the curves of the hilly terrain that detaches the towns of Kabale and Kisoro. It is a very lovely spot, dotted with small islands and banded by steeped terraced hills. The Lake gets its name Bunyonyi from the fact that it harbours diversity of birds.  Dinner and over night at Habuharo Island camps / Arcadia cottages/ mid range /Bushara Island Camp.

Day 15: Lake Bunyonyi

There are endless opportunities for activities in the Lake Bunyonyi region. You may visit the bright and colourful local market at Kabale or the museum. You may choose to visit the pygmies or take a canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi. Dinner and overnight at Habuharo Island camps/Arcadia cottages/ Bushara Island Camp.

Day 16: Travel from Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo

Take break fast and depart for Lake Mburo National Park. We will drive through some of Uganda’s premium scenery. Lake Mburo National Park is an extension of the Tanzanian plains with big herds of zebra, impala, eland and other ungulates (clove hoofed animals). The park is centred on a series of swamp – fringed lakes known for rich birdlife, notably the secretive African fin foot. We will check in at the camp and relax for a little while before going in a dug out canoe on the lake or an evening Wildlife drive. Dinner and Overnight at Mantana Camp/Rwonyo Banda.

Day 17: Game drive/ Nature walk to the salt lick

This is one of the best parks in the country in which visitor can walk (accompanied by a ranger), as well as take the usual game drives. Explore Lake Mburo in an early morning game drive in search for animals and birds. It is probably the best place in Uganda to see Acacia associated birds and also of special interest to birders, are the swamps. The swamps are home to the highly localized Papyrus Yellow Warbler recorded nowhere else in Uganda. Have lunch and then in the evening, you will take a guided nature walk to the salt lick area where most animals in this park go to lick salt. Dinner and overnight at Mantana Camp/Rwonyo Banda (FB)

Day 18: Travel from Lake Mburo – Kampala

You will have breakfast in the morning before taking a wildlife drive and then departing for Kampala. You will take a stop over at the Equator for a pictorial opportunity as well as an informative presentation from guide.  On arrival in Kampala, we will have lunch then head to the airport to catch your flight to catch your flight back home.
