It is a well-known fact that tourism can be a deadly antagonist as much as a firm friend in the matter of development. Considering the economic might of the tourist industry now regarded as the biggest in the world uganda tours ahead of automobiles and chemicals, careful attention should be paid to culture in order to progressive strategies which are vitally needed in order to prepare the ground for genuinely progressive international, regional and local tourism development.
Besides, cultural travel directed towards experiencing the arts, heritage and special character of unique places includes arts (galleries, studios, performing and visual arts), Cultural activities (festivals, celebrations, and rituals), events and physical heritage, building and environment. While reconsidering the relationship between tourism and cultural diversity, tourism and intercultural dialogue, and tourism and development, the Organization (UNESCO) proposes to contribute to the fight against poverty, protection of the environment and mutual appreciation of cultures.
Considering cultural development, Rwanda will, next week, gorilla safaris rwanda host the Commonwealth investment conference, ahead of the 7th Edition of the Pan African Dance Festival (FESPAD 2010) that will be staged in July. This is a result of Rwanda being an attractive investment destination and both forums present an opportunity. Apart from breaking into new markets, the events will enhance business openings for Rwandans since they facilitate gainful partnerships
However, the Rwandan business community will be accorded opportunity to forge new partnerships with business leaders from around the world since approximately 31 African countries are expected to attend, Mountain gorilla tours as well as China, Japan, Vietnam, France and Spain.
By promoting the rich Rwandan cultural heritage, the country shall attract both investors and tourists. The traditional dances and dress are world class, and our museums have a powerful story to tell. There is no doubt that Rwanda’s tourism sector has been very successful, but there are areas that have not been exhaustively exploited.
The country can cut itself a niche in the region by aggressively promoting its arts and culture which will rank Rwanda as the best cultural destination in Africa. houses for sale in kampala uganda

With funding from the McArthur Foundation, UWA in November 2009 sent a team of six staff on a 6-day study tour to Canada to learn about the country’s oil sector and pick lessons on how to ensure the co-existence of wildlife conservation and oil exploration within Uganda’s protected areas.

UWA has a big stake in the ongoing oil exploration activities in the country given that most of them are taking place within the protected areas. UWA has the responsibility of ensuring that the oil activities have minimal or no impacts on wildlife conservation and that tourism activity in the parks continue to take place with no interference.<a href=http://www.kenyansafarisguide.com/travel-info/kenya-safari-tourist-attractions.aspx kenya tourist attractions

It is therefore essential that the UWA staff concerned with implementing planning and conservation activities get adequate experience on how to manage the issues relating to the interface between nature conservation and oil exploration and production. bwindi gorilla tour

The study tour was aimed at helping the staff to learn best practices in waste management, flaring, piping, drilling operations, extraction technologies for oil and gas, reclamation and restoration of sites.

This was a right I the right direction and if used well it mighty be of great advantage in safe guarding our tourism resources.

Rwanda’s national airline will expand its route network to other new places in its quest to satisfy its clientele. The air line has added Goma in the eastern Congo DR and Dar es Salaam to its route network starting December 2009. rwanda travel guide

The airline presently flies to Johannesburg, Kilimanjaro/Arusha, Nairobi, Bujumbura, and, of course, Entebbe, besides serving some domestic aerodromes. Goma flights will be operated on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, while Dar es Salaam flights will operate on Tuesday and Sunday via Bujumbura, as will incidentally some of the daily Johannesburg flights. tanzania safari

Before the civil war around 1970s, Uganda had 400 Eastern Black Rhinos (Diceros biconis michaeli) in Murchison Falls National Park and 300 Northern White Rhinos ((Cerathotherium simum cottoni) in Kidepo Valley National Park. uganda safari
.Efforts to re-introduce rhinos in Uganda began in 2001 when two Southern White Rhinos were imported from Kenya and taken to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre where they are still residents. Uganda Wildlife Authority later came together with a local NGO, Rhino Fund Uganda, and imported six more rhinos from Kenya and the United States of America as part of the breeding program, and these are residents at the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary. All the three female rhinos got pregnant and two have already had babies, while the third is expected to deliver its baby at the end of December 2009.
A team belonging to the African Rhino Specialist Group (AfRSG) that visited Uganda recently has certified the country’s suitability to host the Eastern Black Rhinos and the Northern White Rhinos which once occurred in large populations in the northern part of the country. gorilla safari
The team was in Uganda to evaluate the former rhino ranges and rate them for importance, management capacity, habitat suitability, ecological carrying capacity, veterinary risk and the general security situation.
After the 7-day visit which included visits to Murchison Falls National Park, Kidepo Valley National Park and the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary in the company of the UWA Veterinary Co-ordinator, Dr. Patrick Atimnedi, the team said they were convinced that Uganda still had the capacity to host the rhinos, which were poached to extinction during the1970s and 1980s houses for sale in kenya
During a follow-up meeting the team had with the UWA Management team, they advised that all aspects relating to the management of the rhinos must be assessed and decided upon in the run-up to their re-introduction in the Ugandan wild. Masai mara safari packages Such aspects include ecological management, community support, security, monitoring, capacity building, co-ordination with the different stakeholders, political support and tourism activities.
The team recommended that a Uganda Rhino Policy should be developed as this will demonstrate government commitment to the re-introduction of the rhinos. They also recommended the formulation of a National Rhino Conservation Plan as well as specific re-introduction plans for each site for the different rhino species.kampala homes on sale

Kasubi tombs burnt to ashes in kampala last night

The burial ground for the preceding four Buganda kings (Kasubi Tombs), is one of the World heritage sites of Uganda and its being a pictogram for the Ganda history and culture and Uganda all a whole has attracted many people to come and see exactly how Uganda cultures are sealed. For any culture tour in Uganda , Kasubi is a key attraction that if its not part of the places to be visited, then one would have missed the true cultural experience of Uganda cultures. Besides, a visit at the Kasubi tombs will involve a walk around the palace, view the architecture of the long ago Africans made of reeds and souvenir given to Kabaka’s by foreigners like the gun, then several types of spears and Kabaka’s pet animal which are found in the Buganda house called Muzibu Azaala Mpamga. kampala travel guide

Additionally, one can experience the true culture of Buganda , Educational activity of the Buganda Kingdom which involves the practice of the Buganda norms and beliefs like women dress code, story telling of the Buganda Kingdom and many others. Apart from the Royal burial ceremonies, other traditional rituals are carried out throughout the year. They include; the new moon ceremony and the consultation of the mediums. But the main spiritual life is not visible to the ordinary visitor as many ceremonies are performed secretly inside the buildings. rwanda travel guide

However, the site of great cultural value (Kasubi Tombs) was last night burnt by fire, whose origin was not immediately established. The Police Fire Brigade rushed to the scene but its efforts to put out the raging fire at the traditional burial grounds of Buganda kings were disrupted by a crowd. Eyewitnesses said the fire started from behind the huts. The main hut was completely destroyed as the surging crowd wailed in disbelief, hampering further the Police efforts to stop the inferno from spreading. The Police said they could not tell the extent of the damage to the world famous heritage site since they were unable to access it, but it was clear that the huts were reduced to ash.kenya travel guide

Before the site was declared as a World Heritage Site in 2001, there have been several transformations from the first king Kintu to the present Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi. The Buganda political civilisation dates from back in the 13th Century AD. Their first Kabaka was Kintu and he is said to have come with his wife Nambi, whose hand he won by performing heroic deeds at the command of her father Gulu.
The first Kabaka to be buried at Kasubi tombs was Muteesa I, the 35th king of Buganda and all the Buganda’s kings built their palaces on strategic hills to control the major roads to the palace and find easy ways to escape in case of an invasion or rebellion. Each Kabaka was buried at a separate site in a royal shrine to house his jaw bone, which was believed to contain his spirit.

Muteesa 1 was born around 1835 and was crowned in 1856. He established his palace at Kasubi in 1882, as did his father, Kabaka Suuna 11.
His son Daudi Chwa succeeded him in 1897, he died in 1939 and he was also buried at Kasubi Tombs with his two predecessors. The process continued that Kabaka Chwa was also succeeded by his son Edward Muteesa 11 who made Uganda attain it’s independence from the British on October 9, 1962 and in that year Kabaka Muteesa II became the constitutional president of Uganda.

However, Apollo Milton Obote stormed his palaces in May 1966 and forced him into exile in England . Later, he died in 1969 in London and his remains were brought back and buried at Kasubi in 1971. Hundreds of kingdoms subjects have thronged the site, crying and screaming while others were seen prostrating in front of the embers because of the strong love for culture preservation. tanzania tour guide

Though, the World heritage site was but last night, tt is not known how the tombs will be rebuilt following the fire last incidence BUT plans and strategies are being put in place to ensure the reconstruction of the site. Therefore, note all hope is lost for the site and for Uganda ’s culture Tourism.

The Hilton Hotel is located on Nakasero Hill Road , Nakasero, and its Kampala ’s most prestigious location. The building is being erected on a 14 acres (5.7 ha) site that was previously occupied by the state’s television stations. The elevation of the construction site is 1,240 metres (4,100 ft) above sea level, making it one of the highest points in the city. In 2006 the Government gave the AYA Group a 15-acre land in Nakasero in Kampala to build a five-star hotel and its construction started immediately after President Museveni finished launching the project Following the launch, the developer had initially said the hotel would be ready for the November 2007 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kampala . Hamid said the project delayed because Uganda is landlocked. gorilla tours

“This is not a simple project. Transportation of construction materials from Mombasa is also a problem because Uganda is a landlocked country,” he said. “Besides, the standard of this type of hotel requires one to take time,” he said. About 2,000 employees, 95% of whom will be locals, would be recruited when the hotel is completed and its Staff will be trained abroad to meet international standards, Hamid added.gorilla tours

However, the managing director of AYA Group of Companies said that the “$100m Hilton Hotel will be ready by September” the news that made both Ugandan locals, international visitors happy. The joy and celebration was a result of various positive impacts to the local people and the tourists to the country. This is evidenced by the future plans of the hotel.

Uganda has a republican government and is governed by an elected president together with an elected parliament. However, this does not rule out the fact that traditional kingdoms exist with in the country and so do traditional leaders.gorilla tours

The country formally had six recognized kingdoms namely, Buganda Kingdom, Busoga Kingdom, Ankole Kingdom, Tooro Kingdom, Bunyoro Kingdom and Acholi. However, now they are seven kingdoms with the newest being the “Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu” which can be translated as the Rwenzori Kingdom.
south africa safari

This kingdom as the name suggests is found in the Rwenzori Mountain and it’s natives are called the Bakonzo. The Bakonzo used to be a part of the Tooro kingdom but in 1963 the Bakonzo broke away from Tooro kingdom and formed their own kingdom in the mountain.uganda kenya rwanda

Despite being in existence for 46 year, this kingdom had never been recognized as an independent entity. It’s just recently on 19th Oct 2009, when the government recognized the Kingdom that the King Charles Wesley Mumbere was enthroned.african safari tours information

“It is a great moment to know that finally the central government has understood the demands of the Bakonzo people who have been seeking very hard for recognition of their identity,” Mumbere said in the whitewashed single-story building that serves as a palace.safari tours yovia

THE Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has approved the construction of the first airstrip in Kabale district. This is going to be in memory of the late Canon Dr. John Sedrack Batuma. And for this fact the Airstrip will be called Batuma Memorial Airstrip

According to Eng. Ivan Mbabazi Batuma, the airstrip would boost the business community by easing transport for tourism and trade if completed.

This will be a big advantage to the tourism industry especially for the Gorilla safaris in uganda . With an Airstrip in Kabale the tourists will be able to fly directly to Kabale and not Kisoro(Kayonza) like it has been in the past.

“It is an expensive project which will cost us millions of shillings but we have started levelling and clearing the ground as part of the construction works,” Mbabazi said. african tours blog

He said they had put aside a 1.5m land for the runway. The airstrip site is located in Rubanda county, about 5Km from Kabale town on the Kabale-Kisoro highway.
